⛵ Las Isletas de Granada
The Isletas are one of the most visited attractions in the area — and for good reason. Formed by an ancient eruption of the Mombacho Volcano, this group of 365 small islands is a natural and cultural treasure on Lake Nicaragua.
On this peaceful boat tour, you’ll visit:
San Pablo Fort, built in the 18th century to protect Granada from English pirates
Monkey Island, where curious monkeys may greet you (especially if you brought a banana!)
Birdwatching spots, where you can see herons, kingfishers, hawks, and more
This relaxing adventure is perfect for nature lovers, history fans, and anyone wanting to enjoy a different side of Granada.
Includes: Boat tour through the islets, visit to San Pablo Fort, wildlife spotting (birds & monkeys), bilingual guide, transportation
What to bring: Hat and sunscreen, water bottle, camera or phone for photos

🥾 Mombacho Volcano
Mombacho Volcano is the highest point in the region, offering breathtaking views of the Isletas, Granada, Laguna de Apoyo, and the surrounding landscape.
This dormant volcano is covered by a lush cloud forest, home to an incredible variety of wildlife — including monkeys, birds, reptiles, and even sloths. Along the way, you’ll pass coffee farms and enjoy one of three guided hiking trails:
Cráter Trail
A short and scenic loop around the main crater. We drive you to the summit, then walk through the forest for spectacular views of Granada and Lake Nicaragua.
Duration: approx. 1.5–2 hours
Tigrillo Trail
This trail mixes parts of the Cráter and Puma trails — ideal if you’re looking for great views, diverse nature, and a comfortable hike.
Duration: approx. 2 hours
Puma Trail
A more challenging hike around all four craters, with sweeping 360° views of southwestern Nicaragua. Great for nature lovers and hikers.
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Includes: Round-trip transportation, bilingual guide, trail access fees, park entrance fees
What to bring: Preferably long pants and walking shoes, at least 1.5L of water, sunscreen & insect repellent, a hat

🌊 Day Trip to Laguna de Apoyo
Have you ever swum in the crater of a volcano?
Laguna de Apoyo is the clearest lake in Central America — a volcanic crater filled with warm, clean, mineral-rich water. Thanks to thermal springs at its base, the water stays pleasant all year round. Located in a protected natural reserve between Granada and Masaya, it’s the perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature.
Spend your day swimming, kayaking, or just lounging by the water with a book and a fresh cup of coffee.
Includes: Transport, entrance fees, kayaks, floats, free coffee & tea
What to bring: Sunscreen, swimsuit, towel, hat

🌋 Isla de Ometepe
This tour is customizable to fit your preferences. It can be done in one day, but if you have more time, a multi-day trip is also an option (which we recommend!). Ometepe is a stunning island located in Lake Nicaragua, just southeast of Granada. The island is made up of the two connected volcanoes Concepcíon and Maderas and offers a variety of attractions.
Explore beautiful beaches, coffee, tobacco, and banana plantations, and enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Ojo de Agua. Don’t miss the stunning San Ramón waterfall or the opportunity to hike the volcanoes and explore their craters.
Fun fact: Among the lush vegetation on the volcano slopes, you can find rocks with pre-Columbian petroglyphs, which are the inspiration for the mural designs in our hostel!
Includes: Transport, guide
What to bring: Everything you need for a (multi) day trip

🏙️ Leon City Trip & Volcano Boarding
This day trip brings you to the city León, a historic university city just a few hours from Granada. Discover the León Cathedral and other cultural sites that offer a glimpse into Nicaraguan history.
For those looking for something different, you can try volcano boarding on Volcán Cerro Negro, where you’ll ride down the side of an active volcano.
The combination of culture and adventure is of course optional, but many guests have found it to be a great balance of both. Just let us know your wishes!
Includes: Transport, guide
What to bring: Everything you need for a day trip
